Chapman, Sloan take BOE races; Banks wins HCC seat

GAINESVILLE – Sam Chapman and Brian Sloan won their GOP Primary races for the Hall County Board of Education Tuesday and Bobby Banks picked up the Republican nomination for county commission.
Chapman got 68 percent of the vote while Jones polled 32 percent. He will face Martha T. Mays in the November General Election.
Sloan also won handily, but by a smaller margin, getting 62 percent of the vote to 38 percent for Pamela Graham.
Banks won by eight percentage points over Kathy Cooper, 54-46.
In the only contested Democratic race in Hall County, races, John D. Bradbury got 74 percent while Bob Longwith received 26 percent in the race for the 9th District Congressional nomination.. Bradbury also carried the district and will face incumbent Republican Nathan Deal in November. Deal ran unopposed Tuesday.
