(Atlanta) — Governor Nathan Deal holds a slight lead over his Democratic challenger, Senator Jason Carter, in a newly released poll jointly conducted by Landmark Communications, Inc. and Rosetta Stone Communications, LLC.
The poll of 575 active Georgia voters was conducted for WSB-TV Channel 2 News in Atlanta on Sunday, March 30. Gov. Deal leads Carter 43-39% with 18% of voters saying they are undecided.
Governor Deal leads among men by 10 points (48-38%), while Carter holds a 3% lead among women (41-38%). 21% of women voters are undecided, while just 14% of men say they are undecided.
“Independent voters support Gov. Deal by a 4 to 3 margin,” said Mark Rountree, president of Landmark Communications. “With Deal at 41%, Carter at 32% among Independent voters, there is still a significant number of Independents who have yet to make up their mind.”
“Governor Deal still enjoys a small lead among all age groups despite a non-stop barrage of bad press,” said John Garst, president of Rosetta Stone Communications. “The Governor trails Senator Jason Carter with female voters. I predict a photo finish in November.”
Landmark Communications, Inc and Rosetta Stone Communications conducted a statewide poll on March 30 of 575 Likely Voters in the November General Election. Only voters who fully completed the survey were tabulated in the results. The results reflect only respondents who stated that they intend to vote in the 2014 General Election. The poll was conducted by telephone using IVR technology. The margin of error of the survey is 4%. To be consistent with previous and projected voter turnout, results are weighted based on race, age and gender.
